For the record, I am a 52 year old mum from Perth, Western Australia and for two amazing years I worked and lived under the rainforest canopy at Gunung Mulu World Heritage Area in Borneo. I visited Kuching regularly for both business and pleasure, attended some awesome music, food and cultural festivals and absolutely fell in love with all that Borneo has to offer. 

On my return to Australia, I established Borneo Ethical Adventures and in a leap of faith, I follow my dream..

My dream is to share the treasures of the region with others, to improve the lives of the people I love, to get my hands dirty and help out, to bring others to help and to protect and preserve the forest and its wildlife for future generations.

This tour brings together two passionate women each with a similar mission to protect and preserve our precious environment and to nurture ourselves and others as we travel and contribute. 

This 9-day Wild Awake Women's Tour will be a journey of discovery, immersion and gilt-free indulgence as we reconnect with ourselves,  each other and the incredible jungles and people of Borneo.

Our small group doesn't follow the usual tourist trails. We'll take it all in at a pretty cruisy pace. We'll explore the 'must-see' tourist destinations in Kuching and Mulu National Park with expert local guides but we'll also introduce you to some hidden treasures that only the locals really know about. Oh, and you'll meet quite a few of them too!

Whether it's a tribal massage, Chinese herbalist, local markets or seriously stylish fusion food you are after - This tour packs a punch! Hell, even a simple hair wash and blow dry in Sarawak is an experience not to be missed.

In Kuching we'll stay and undertaking our daily practice in the beautiful Mariam Heritage Suites, a recently renovated Heritage Building with sweeping views of Sarawak and a easy stroll to the waterfront promenade and bustle tin merchants of Carpenter Street.  Whilst in Mulu World Heritage Area we'll sleep in spacious bungalows under the rainforest canopy at Mulu National Park.

So what do we have so far?.... Awesome walks, incredible scenery, some fresh jungle air, throw in a massage, a river cruise or two and a bit of giving back to the communities we visit. Now bundle it all together with a bunch of good women in search of fun and adventure. Only one thing to do now...grab a friend and reserve your place!

The tour starts in Kuching and finishes in Kota Kinabalu, leaving you to explore Sabah or fly direct to a variety of destinations (including Perth). Flights to Kuching are available through Malaysian Airlines, Malindo Air and Air Asia via Kuala Lumpur daily and Scoot Airlines and Singapore Airlines via Singapore.

Kuching experiences:Escorted tours of Bako National Park, Semonggoh Wildlife Centre, volunteering with Project Orangutan,at Matang Rehabilitation Sanctuary, all breakfasts, yoga.....

Mulu National Park Experiences: Escorted tours of Deer and Lang Cave, bat exodus, sunrise longboat ride, yoga and  picnic breakfast at Clearwater Pool. 

Transport & Flights: All internal flights and associated transfers in Kuching,Mulu and Kota Kinabalu. 

Accommodation: Private rooms in 3-4 star boutique accommodation 

Meals: all breakfasts, picnic lunches and evening meals when on location only.
